2018 Ford Explorer SPORT UTILITY 4-DR, 3.7L V6 DOHC 24V.

Aberdeen PD bought this vehicle used in September 2022. It was purchased and transitioned to a patrol K9 (dog) vehicle. The vehicle was driven by the handler and was not a pool car.

In April of 2025 it was brought in for and had its AC/Heating serviced. It continued to have issues with the heating and cooling system.

While running to cool down the vehicle for the K9 it overheated and after attempting to get it serviced it was recommended to replace the engine. Due to the cost of an engine replacement and the mileage and year of the vehicle, APD chose to replace the vehicle rather than repair it and are auctioning off this vehicle.

Vehicle was drivable when it was driven to storage however there is no guarantee on how long or how far you could drive before the engine fails. Storage is less than a mile from the mechanics, and the vehicle was driven from there and parked.

As you can see from the pictures, the original color is blue but currently wrapped in black and white.

of water pressure tested system i holding pressure started and let run no
reaction let run for a while as soon as it got up to temp got a instant positive
reaction for exhaust in the cooling system suspect a possible crack that opens up
when hot or warped head or block. recommend replacing the engine
