The vehicle has received diligent maintenance over the course of its use by the department. Full records are kept, but cumbersome to provide to every bidder who requests them. Has the water pump been replaced? The reason this is so important to know is the extensive labor cost to replace a water pump and timing chain on these Ford 3.5 and 3.7 engines. The repair can be 3-4 thousand dollars at a dealership. Many agencies get this question when posting vehicles and will clarify that in the ad to avoid getting this question so many times. On the Ford Taurus specifically, you cannot see the engine seal and thus a visual inspection from a qualified individual will not tell you whether or not the engine has been opened up to access the water pump and timing chain. 03/10/2026 12:46:21 PM
