For Auction is an Advanced Instruments A20 Osometer. The Advanced Instruments A2O (often referred to as the A20) is a high-throughput, fully automated osmometer. While Olympus makes microscope components (like the ones we discussed), Advanced Instruments is the industry leader in freezing-point osmometry, used to measure the concentration (osmolality) of solutions like serum, urine, or cell culture media. The A2O is designed for "walk-away" operation in busy clinical or biotech labs.


Features and Capabilities
Full Automation: Unlike manual models where you pipette each sample, the A2O features an automated liquid handler and a self-cleaning pipette.
Sample Carousel: It uses a 20-position carousel that can hold primary sample tubes (11–17 mm wide) or low-volume sample cups.
Sample Volume: It requires a 100 µL sample volume (aspirates ~150 µL).
Speed: It can process a full 20-sample batch in less than an hour, with a typical test time of about 3 minutes per sample.
Data Management: It features an integrated barcode scanner for positive sample ID, a built-in printer, and Ethernet/USB ports for LIS (Laboratory Information System) connectivity.
