The barge was used over 30 years ago to service oil derricks on Lake Arrowhead. It has been resting partially submerged on the shoreline since that time. It did contain some residual oil and water that was pumped out when the barge was removed from the lake body in July, 2025. It should be assumed that there may be some residual oil inside the containment, on the walls and/or floor. The interior is accessbile by hatches on the deck of the barge.
The side both have some holes in the metal walls and we believe there is a crack or hole in the bottom of the barge. As it sits, it is NOT able to float.
It has an old GM Detroit Diesel engine that has not been used in over 30 years. We make no claim as to the condition of the engine.
As the barge currently sits on City owned property, the City will ONLY assist with access to the property. It shall be the buyer's responsibility to load and haul the barge from the site. The City will NOT assist in loading or hauling the barge.
It shall be the buyer's responsibility to ensure all TxDOT laws and regulations for hauling on the roads beyond the site are met.
