The BD FACSAria IIu cell sorter is a high-speed benchtop digital flow cytometer designed for analyzing complex populations of cells. It features three spatially separated lasers: 405 nm, 488 nm, and 633 nm, allowing for the purification of samples that are either positive or negative for a single fluorophore or as complex as multi-color samples with complex gating strategies. The sorter can sort cells into two or four tubes with speeds up to 25,000 events/second, incorporating cells from the sample tube into a stream of sterile PBS and interrogating them by the lasers at the flow cell.
The BD FACSAria II fluidics cart is a crucial component of the BD FACSAria II flow cytometer system. It supplies the sheath and cleaning fluids from non-pressurized containers and collects waste from the instrument. The self-contained fluidics cart provides air pressure and vacuum, eliminating the need for an external source. This feature allows the instrument to operate in any lab or room without the special and costly facility requirements of a traditional high-speed flow cytometer. The air pump generates pressure from 2 to 75 psi, accommodating a variety of cell sorting applications. The fluidics cart holds four 10-L containers, two sheath and two waste, and three 5-L auxiliary cleaning fluid containers. It can also accommodate BD FACSFlow™ 20-L cubitainers in place of the four 10-L containers. The entire fluidics system is designed to enhance the easy-to-use instrument.
