You are bidding on a RARE, DOUBLE DEFECT, 1972 PROOF SET!! Proof coins are high quality coins, produced by the United States Mint and made for collectors or commemorative purposes. The term "proof" refers to the coin's manufacturing process, not its condition. Proof coins are struck using a unique process that involves specially treating, hand-polishing, and cleaning proof blanks to ensure high-quality strikes. The result is a coin with a mirror-like background and a frosted, sculpted foreground that gives it a cameo or mirror effect. Proof coins are considered the finest quality of coins produced by the United States Mint and are highly popular among collectors due to their rarity and generally high value.
Here is where the rarity comes into play! If you look at the dime and the penny in this set, the front and back of each coin is not centered properly. The back of each coin should be 180 degrees from what the front is. Neither of these coins is! The backs on each are roughly 15 degrees off axis from where they should be. This would normally make those coins collectible even if they were circulated, but the fact that they are in a proof set makes them even more desirable! These coins are supposed to be PERFECT and are supposed to be inspected before leaving the mint, but occasionally a few defect coins slip out, making them very collectible!
This set comes in both a hard, plastic protective case and a cardboard protective box to keep your display case safely tucked away in.
This set contains a penny, nickel, dime, quarter and a Kennedy half dollar.

Removal
Shipping IS available for this item. We offer both packing and shipping for items at the buyer's expense. Shipping is done through either the US Postal Service or UPS for smaller items and LTL truck freight for larger items. Shipping insurance is available (and recommended) at the buyer's expense. Due to an issue with a previous bidder, WE DO NOT ACCEPT SHIPPING LABELS (For smaller items) OR CUSTOMER ARRANGED FREIGHT (On larger items) FROM WINNING BIDDERS. If you require shipping, we will add shipping costs to your final invoice with GovDeals.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SHIPPING ADDRESS IS CORRECT WITH GOVDEALS!! If it is not, YOU MUST CONTACT US to let us know where your item needs to be shipped to. We WILL NOT be responsible if you don't contact us and your item is shipped to an incorrect address.
